About admission to the master’s program in 2022

This year, the Ural Energy Institute of the Ural Federal University conducted a successful recruitment to master’s groups for new master’s programs in the field of smart energy, which shows the relevance of the programs offered in the modern digital world. 13 people were accepted for the program “Smart Urban Energy Systems” in the academic field of electric power industry and electrical engineering. The program is related to the planning and implementation of smart solutions for urban energy systems, to the leadership and project management for industrial electric power systems and networks, to the operation and condition monitoring of equipment of power stations and substations and automated production control systems.

The program “Artificial intelligence in the electric power industry” in the academic field of applied mathematics enrolled 23 people. The professional activity of the graduates of this program is connected to the use of artificial intelligence methods in the problems of the electric power industry, with the study of mathematical models of technical systems and technological processes, methods of data processing and analysis, with the development of software and hardware for intelligent decision support systems, taking into account the requirements of information security.

“A large number of applicants to become a master’s student and interest in our programs both in Russian and in English give a new start to the development of digital energy. Master’s programs are carried out with the support of partner enterprises, which shows mutual interest in the process, both on the part of education and the energy industry. A distinctive feature of this year’s recruitment was another interesting phenomenon that almost half of our students this year are already well-established industry employees with experience who have decided to change the vector of their professional development, ”says Alexandra Khalyasmaa, Associate Professor of the Ural Energy Institute, head of the programs.

The great value is that the programs are available in two languages, fully in Russian or English. One of our English-language master’s programs “Smart urban energy systems” won a grant from the Ministry of Education of the PRC. The Ural Power Engineering Institute and Taiyuan Technological University will implement a double degree program for students from China. This year we have recruited and will train and support 30 Chinese students.
