Ready, steady, go! ESSENCE International Summer School opened

ESSENCE International Summer School was officially launched on July 05, 2021. The event was developed and organized by Ural Power Engineering Institute of P6/UrFU and will be held online from July 5 to July 28, 2021. The Summer School is dedicated to smart power engineering and will be delivered in English. 80 students from Azerbaijan, England, France, India, Latvia, Pakistan, Russia, Slovakia, Sri Lanka, Turkey, and Vietnam have registered. As a part of the Summer School, students will attend online lectures by leading professors of power engineering from Europe, Russia, and Vietnam and develop a smart power system based on renewable energy sources. The case is multidisciplinary and includes aspects of renewable energy sources, the use of machine learning algorithms to predict generation, programming with Python, and related challenges in electric power engineering.

“We had to move the School online because of the coronavirus pandemic. It was difficult to figure out how to carry out the School online for such a large number of students from different countries taking into account that the time difference between some countries is 8 hours. The School is a video course where each partner from Europe, Russia and Vietnam created their own video content and learning materials. We believe that this is a unique and successful experience of working with foreign colleagues and the first step in international online education,” senior lecturer and ESSENCE project coordinator at UrFU Stanislav Eroshenko says.
