ENGIR – International Summer School for Power Engineers of the Future

ENGIR – the first Summer School for Power Engineers of the Future was held in Novosibirsk from July 23 to 28.

The school was organized by the Ural Power Engineering Institute of UrFU together with the NTI EnergyNet Working Group and the EnergyNet Center ANO and leading Russian universities with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the NTI Platform ANO.

The main goal of the school is to ensure a live connection between universities, students and power utilities. It becomes possible by face-to-face communication in the process of solving real industry cases throughout the school and maintaining this connection after graduation.

This time summer school worked in three main areas:

– Intelligent distribution power grids and consumption networks

– Robust and flexible networks

– Hydrogen-based power generation

It was possible to take part online or in person. In total, 327 participants visited the school, 271 of them came to Novosibirsk.

Pavel Matrenin, UrFU teacher said the following about the school: “A vast educational block, led by top power industry universities, educational and popular science lectures from EnergyNet and industry partners, excursions to power facilities and simply entertaining events, cool gifts and new acquaintances were organized for the participants. I would like the power industry to remain a popular major for students, and it seems to me that it is time for students’, science and industry unification.”
