Riga Technical University (RTU) is the largest technological university and the leading multidisciplinary research institution in the Baltic States – it educates and trains almost 15 thousand students. In the nine faculties of RTU it is possible to obtain high quality education not only in engineering, but also in social sciences and humanities. Study programs implemented by RTU have been positively evaluated by international experts and are officially accredited. Since 2021 master level study programme “Smart Power System” has been offered in English. Institut Polytechnique de Grenoble / Grenoble Institute of Technology (Grenoble INP), officially founded in 1900, is the first French engineering university and one of Europe’s leading technology universities. With respect to smart grids, Grenoble INP is particularly involved in research on innovative ICT-based tools for the energy management in the electrical grid, improved coordination between multiple stakeholders, as well as reliability and security of the associated multiple infrastructures. The Grenoble InP – G2Elab (Grenoble Electrical Engineering laboratory) is one of a major laboratories of INPG in energy field. The “Network & Electrical System” Group within INPG – G2Elab is particularly involved in research on the architecture, control and security of the transmission and distribution electrical grids and the devices connected to them (security of power system again terrorist attacks, blackout mitigation strategies, congestion management, power quality, fault isolation, demand side management and smart grids), in cooperation with the main TSO/DSOs and Power companies especially through a former joint research centre GIE-IDEA and actually with Enedis through an industrial chair.
Technical University of Košice (TUKE) was founded in 1952, but its roots must be sought much deeper in the past. The university consists of 9 faculties, specialized in technology and even art.
